When do mages get water elemental
Please enable JavaScript in your browser. Live PTR. Classic TBC. Classic Theme Thottbot Theme. Quick Facts. Comments Comment by Tetris Comes with 2 spells of its own and a standard pet bar. Freeze - is a ranged Frost Nova with 25sec cooldown.
Waterbolt - similar to frostbolt but with 2. Also the pets stats are a percentage of the summoners stats which will vary. Comment by Yea, currently bugged mana cost! Really good though with timing you can manuaver it's frost nova ability to your liking. Comment by I'm feeling a little lackluster with this talent.
I think it does a fair job DPSing and I love the ranged nova ability, but 45 seconds with a 3 minute cooldown seems a bit short to me. Comment by Samh88 The cooldown on the Water Elemental starts once you summon him, so when he despawns after 45 seconds you can summon him again in 2 minutes 15 seconds :D. Comment by If you use this spell like a trinket, it is a thing of beauty. For instance If you stand back, use the ranged nova with a flamestrike in tow, the results can be spectacular in both pvp and pve.
This little toy can really shine in WSG. While he won't kill anything, he certainly can help you chase down anything with his nifty nova. Or, help you escape by staggering his nova with yours. In rediculously dps intensive fights i. Comment by This spell only costs me mana. This is likely because of mana reducing talents like Elemental Precision and Frost Channeling. Also, the pet does scale with gear, but I'm not sure if it's just the health and mana or the damage too.
Comment by You can use Cold snap to destroy the cooldown. Comment by I've seen lots of fellow mages in PvP summoning a water elemental and then having it simply stand there while they die. To help solve this problem I reccommend using a macro.
I will give you 2 macros to help. The first i would use when u have an enemy targeted. Then what the macro will do is summon your water elemental, set him to aggressive and attack your enemy. NOTE: you must press the macro 3 times for all of these abilities to occur, but it makes things a whole lot easier by putting it in one button. Simply copy and paste the following test into your macro. You simply press the macro and set the frost nova down where you want it. And it's absolutely ACE in keeping a warrior in combat while you run around yourself.
Comment by skitzosmeagol The water elemental DOES benefit from spell damage, tests have roven it, but its not alot. The Water elemental does not benefit from any talents, frost channeling may reduce the cost since its a frost spell. Comment by This pet does do great Dps. But if you are in PvP and your water elemental just disapeared after it's 45 minutes. You use Cold Snap. It restarts the cooldown of all your frost spells.
So you can summon the Water Elemental twice :. Hope this was helpfull. Comment by This talent allows you to summon a water elemental to fight for you for 45 seconds. This is a useful talent when it comes to fighting raid bosses and not pulling aggro. The water elemental's damage does not contribute to your threat so this is a good pet to use if you want to be of some use in the beginning of a fight.
This water elemental also has its' own frost nova which can be placed anywhere within the yard radius. To have the Water Elemental you will need at least a total of 41 talent points in frost.
Comment by I like to summon these in pvp, just before I ice block. People will keep on attacking me while blocked as my WE nukes them. Great fun. People tend to ignore the WE, but it'll do great damage while up. Also, the ranged nova is great to stop flag carriers or other runners. Comment by Sware It's elemental so it can be banished by Warlocks.
Comment by This is unconfirmed, but I've noticed that in arenas, this bad boy keeps waterbolting enemies even after I'm dead.
I don't know if this happens anywhere else, but I've seen it happen multiple times in the arena. Comment by This water elemental helps alot. I just turned into lvl 50 and got this and when i fight monsters you just use the water elemental to take all the dmg. It summons a combat Water Elemental to fight for the mage until killed. The minion functions similarly to the Warlock's minions or the Hunter's pets.
A pet action bar appears for the mage to command the elemental and control its spells. The water elemental has two basic abilities, Waterbolt and Freeze. Waterbolt is the elemental's primary spell, and it will automatically use this spell when attacking an enemy. Freeze must be cast explicitly by the mage, as it requires a ground area target. Frost specialization ability. The water elemental provides a nice DPS boost in raid situations. The elemental can do a good bit of damage with its waterbolt with no mana cost and no threat for the mage.
The ranged nature of the ability makes it useful for catching a runner out of reach of [Frost Nova]. It's also good in emergencies when the mage needs to escape and Frost Nova is on cooldown.
The Freeze ability can be cast and targeted at any time, which includes during a cast and while [Ice Block] ed. It does not affect the mage's global cooldown. If mages get aggro from a group under their Blizzard, the elemental's Freeze ability can be used in the middle of casting, ensuring that mages stay away from harm and the Blizzard is not interrupted.
Many frost mages rely on the [Shatter] ability to out-dps an opponent in PvP by critting when they are frozen. Since it can often be troublesome to frost nova and charge up a [Frostbolt] due to the fact that the player will either escape the nova or it will be broken by an ally, the Elemental's Freeze ability becomes invaluable. Once you have established some distance between you and your target, charge up a Frostbolt and Freeze the target just before the frostbolt hits them, and [Ice Lance] at the same time.
A pet is any creature that a player can summon or tame. Death knights, shamans, druids, mages, warlocks, and hunters using snake trap can all get guardian pets , and items which summon guardian pets can be used by any class. In the meantime, it appears that the Freeze ability does unlock at level 32 , so this issue can be self-resolved by continuing to level. Mages can summon a water elemental. Death Knights can summon a zombie but it doesn't sound like you can play one anytime soon.
They require two expansions and a lvl 55 character. Some Druids can summon trees. It summons a combat Water Elemental to fight for the mage until killed. Are Mages good in TBC?
Mages in TBC are absolute DPS machines and the reworked Arcane and Frost tree add a lot to the gameplay, ensuring that there is much more to it than simply pressing one button the whole night. Mages are definitely a top tier pick for PvP. They excel in both arenas and battlegrounds as the control and utility they bring is practically unmatched.
The class also brings a ton of survivability, which means they can get out of danger and ease up some pressure on healers with things like Ice Block and Ice Barrier.
It's simple.. Other options are inferior as you can pretty much make your BIS gear with tailoring upgrades become available throughout the expansion. Elementals are creatures native to the elemental planes. Some creatures of this type are little more than animate masses of their respective elements, including the creatures simply called elementals. Others have biological forms infused with elemental energy.
