When is reno air races
The electrifying and highly anticipated race action features six aircraft classes competing on a pylon course. The Jet and Unlimited classes reach staggering speeds in excess of mph while negotiating left-hand turns just 50 feet from the ground with other racers in pursuit! Racing is not the only reason that people flock to the event, however. There are behind-the-scenes interaction with pilots and planes in the Pits , incredible air show performances by the USAF Thunderbirds, military displays and an impressive variety of exhibits, shopping and food.
A little something to thrill everyone! Besides seeing race planes and air show performances, kids can enjoy the Drone Zone, climb into a real military cargo plane, visit the aviation center or kids zone and shop for kid-sized merchandise at vendor booths. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or you can buy them at the gate. Speeds in the Unlimited and Jet classes can exceed mph. The racing area at Reno Stead Airport is actually home to many courses at once, ranging from a lap of just over 3. The class features point-to-point racing along a course around 2, feet long, with competitors landing their planes on or after a chalked line.

Ticket prices increase each day. You must buy an extra pit pass to access the area where crews work on the racing airplanes. These also go up in price each day. The Reno Air Races is a no-pets event. Dogs except certified service animals will not be admitted.
