What do ets scores mean
Norm-referenced Scores Scaled Scores Norm-referenced or scaled scores compare the scores of one student or group of students to another, or the same student or group at different points in time.
Scores can be used for benchmarking or for determining value-added learning gains by conducting a longitudinal or cross-sectional study.
Scores are reported both graphically and numerically with a confidence band around the institutional mean scores. The ETS Proficiency Profile offers eight norm-referenced scores: total score reported on a — point score scale skills subscores critical thinking, reading, writing and mathematics reported on a — score scale context subscores humanities, social sciences and natural sciences reported on a — score scale Criterion-referenced Scores Proficiency Classifications The criterion-referenced scores are also known as the proficiency classifications, and they measure the level of proficiency obtained on a certain skill set.
Scores can be used for curriculum improvement and individual student progress. Scores are reported both graphically and numerically, showing percentages at each level. See sample of the Roster of Proficiency Classifications. See sample of the Scaled Score Distribution Skills. See sample of the Scaled Score Distributions Total. A minimum of 10 students is required to display data for a subgroup. The following reports are available to institutions that administer the ETS Proficiency Profile with an optional essay. See sample of the Roster of Essay Scores. The total score range is derived from adding the two scaled scores together. To help you interpret TOEIC Bridge scores within specific contexts, the TOEIC Bridge test scores scale comparison to the CEFR presents a series of tables that describe activities that test takers in certain score ranges are a able to do, b able to do with difficulty and c not able to do.
The scoring process is a critical factor when evaluating a quality assessment. ETS uses a rigorous process to ensure fair and reliable results. Test responses are sent through a secure online system. For Speaking and Writing tests, scores are certified and calibrated by ETS raters, who are closely monitored throughout the process. Because English-language skills may improve or decline over time, ETS Global and Representatives will re-issue and confirm score results for 2 years after the test was taken.
